Throwback Thursday: What Ross and Rachel COULD have done differently

Okay- so we all know about Friends when Ross and Rachel dated. They broke up in Season 3 when Ross was jealous of a man that helped get Rachel a job and Rachel got tired of his jealousy and she told Ross they needed to take a break... ON THEIR ANNIVERSARY and Ross IMMEDIATELY sleeps with someone else- the hot girl from the copy shop that always flirts with him.

So first things first: They were broken up, I don't really consider what he did cheating. I don't think Rachel really considers it cheating either- but it's still 100% something that she is right to be upset about. Like there's no way she can look at Ross the same way again after that and there's no where to go.

If I were Rachel-Keep in mind I'm older now than Rachel was at the time- I think maybe I would do things differently. And if I were Ross I would do things differently too. I'm not placing the blame on Rachel at all... but she and Ross could have done things differently.

Anyway- Ross could have expressed the fact that he tends to have trust issues earlier to Rachel. Remember the episode where he and Rachel talk about how many people they've been with? I think that would have been a good time for Ross to mention that he gets a little bit jealous of other guys because he was cheated on by Carol. I think Rachel was a little bit blindsided by his jealousy and that made her more upset.

Rachel... could have maybe backed away from hanging out with Mark because she knew it was making Ross really jealous. She didn't want to be with Mark, she wanted to be with Ross... but she liked having a friend she could talk about fashion with so she liked doing things with Mark.

Mark should have DEFINITELY backed off- he knew he had feelings for Rachel and that she was in a serious relationship with someone she loved. If he really cared about her... he could have ended their friendship or stepped back. He knew Ross was jealous... and he knew how they were together.

Ultimately... I think Ross and Rachel needed to grow up a little bit. Ross also seemed jealous that Rachel had a new job and couldn't dedicate her time to him 100% and that's a problem too. And it's hard- but they could have worked out... and they did grow up at the end of the series and that's how they got back together... so it all ended up okay.
