You might know this Cinderella as the Brandi Cinderella or the Whitney Houston Cinderella… but this was the Cinderella musical I grew up with and it’s been a long time since i’ve seen it!
I think this is a more humanized version of your classic Cinderella story and in my opinion it has the best music of any Cinderella Story. Whitney Houston is absolutely amazing in this, Brandi’s voice is incredible. Bernadette Peters is just an icon… I wish she had another song in the movie too. Also lyrically these songs are just very easy to get stuck in your head and they’re so sweet and beautiful.
I liked that this adaptation of Cinderella had like reasons for why everyone acted the way they did. The Stepmother wasn’t always wicked to Cinderella but she was after Cinderella’s dad passed away. The way the prince falls in love with Cinderella is also very realistic and sweet in my opinion. They have a lovely evening and he can’t stop thinking about her and he’s definitely going to find her… and he doesn’t really fall for the stepsisters saying the shoe fits them.
Also Whitney Houston… incredible in this. She was so great and the whole cast is honestly amazing but Whitney Houston stole the show. She’s incredible!
bye!
