The Bachelorette Finale… What Was That and Why The Drama Isn’t The Only Good Part

So you guys might know I love The Bachelor franchise as a whole. And I’ve really liked Jenn’s season although a lot of the men were kind of questionable. The top 4 guys alone were a guy that only packed his American flag with him (also he has some accusations against him but I don’t exactly know what the accusations are), a guy that said he has a really big 🍆 on night one, a guy that had his butt cheeks out night 1… and Devin.
So some massive spoilers coming up here but in the end Marcus couldn’t say that he loved Jenn… and at least in the confines of this show- I don’t think Marcus was a terrible person… but like if you’re not feeling it- you should leave. You can’t propose if you’re not in love and you’re just wasting the Lead’s time and the other guys that maybe she could have had a stronger connection with’s time. So they end things and Jenn is left with Devin.
Now Devin has kind of had the opposite relationship as Marcus. Jenn knew that she loved Marcus and she said it back to him right away, and continued to say it when Marcus wasn’t there with her. Devin has always been very loving and reassuring of Jenn even when Jenn wasn’t there yet with Devin… so Jenn does finally get to a place where she can say she loves Devin, and Devin loves her… he’s very loving and sweet on the show. So Jenn wants to propose to Devin instead of having him propose to her. She wants to show him- hey I’m in love with you, I want this and I’m fully in it… and he accepts and also proposes to Jenn… and they get engaged… and then right after Jenn says she notices a change in Devin.
So Devin all of a sudden isn’t making good on his promises, he tells Jenn he isn’t ready for an engagement and… I’ve kind of thought ever since Devin and Sam had their fight that Devin just kind of wanted to win Jenn. Because so many of the guys were so against him I think he wanted to be like “guess what I’m stealing your girl” and I’ve kind of thought that since he snuck away to get ice cream with her… and it’s sad that she really did fall for him.
Now one thing I keep seeing posted is “ohhh Sam and Aaron and all those guys were right about Devin” but no… they’re just as petty as he is. I think they would have done the same thing. I also think these men thought that the bachelorette was going to be Daisy or Maria… so they weren’t really falling in love with Jenn. Jenn must have known that the men were wanting it to be Daisy or Maria too since she reacted strongly when either one of them were mentioned and when Devin probably tried to get with Maria on Instagram. Jenn probably overheard the guys talking or something and maybe that’s why she chose Devin when he was being super affectionate and loving towards her.
I also think the “meet the family” date was really important because Jenn was the first Asian bachelorette, so this was the first time we saw a different culture and what the family kind of expected for Jenn. They wanted Jenn to be dating someone for a long time because they wanted her relationship to last a long time. I think if the guys really cared about her family they would say “Jenn I love you and I’m ready to propose to you- but I just don’t want to do it without your family’s blessing. I want to respect them and respect you” instead of immediately picking out a ring and asking her to marry him. I think the show does pressure a proposal and to pick someone but I think they could have just dated longer since he didn’t get the family’s blessing. That was the first kind of red flag I saw with Devin. Do I think maybe the family just didn’t really like Devin and Marcus and were trying to get them not to propose just because they didn’t really see a future with Jenn and either one of them… yes. I think if they had liked the guy that Jenn was with and they saw her and Jenn happy with the guy they might have been more sure for her and been able to give a blessing… but either way I think Devin should have respected the family and not proposed.
So that was actually what I would consider the most dramatic finale ever… it was shocking and I didn’t really know what was going to happen. Overall love Jenn, she was a great bachelorette to watch this season and I thought this season was great even though I didn’t like most of the guys.
Bye!
