Social Media Girlies+ Why You Don’t Need to Follow The Crowd Exactly

So… I’ve been a little bit more interested in fashion lately… plus I’ve been just kind of scrolling through apps besides TikTok. I’ve been on Lemon8 and Facebook and Instagram and I’ve been watching a lot of videos of girls that seemingly have their lives together and they’re all ultra feminine and they have these clean lives with these designer fashions and makeup and skincare… and it’s just not something everyone really needs to have and it’s not really realistic… and I don’t want to ruin people’s aesthetic but it feels a little exclusionary and a little icky.

So I just kind of want to say… hello. My name is Shannon and I’m kind of a mess and kind of feminine but… I’m not always great at doing girl things. I’m a literal girlboss (and a good one, according to my bosses and employees) and I don’t have my life all together but it’s still a good life and I know the “hot mess aesthetic” or “getting my life together” aesthetic probably won’t really trend as hard… but you can be a mess and get it together. You can have it together and still be a mess.

So yeah… if you want to create your own aesthetic or belong to several… you don’t need to follow the crowd. You can take fashion and skincare advice and do your own thing. And you don’t need the most expensive version of the things because in like 10 years from now- a lot of those girls will be complaining about Credit Card Debt… and that’s not something you want.

Bye!

-Shannon
