25 Days of Romance Movies: Keeper (2025)

Okay I have to admit... I'm cheating a bit. I'm a little bit behind in my movie watching so I think I'm going to include 2 horror movies that I've watched recently that are good movie's particularly if you don't have anyone on Valentine's Day because sometimes people are crazy and if you're by yourself you are most likely in good company... so That is how I see it and how this movie made me feel... although I do have a wonderful man that I will be spending Valentine's Day with- there are definitely some men that I've met or talked to that I could see putting me in a similar situation as the woman in this movie was in.

So the trailer for this movie had me thinking it was a "his perspective" and "her perspective" horror movie... which I really love- but disappointingly it wasn't. It's about a man that brings a woman he's been dating for a year to his cabin and things seem kind of mysterious when she gets there. He ends up leaving for 6-7 days (yes... 6 7) and she keeps seeing these visions of Women and this man's cousin is also acting strange and his cousin's girlfriend went missing... and its all just a little weird. Weird things keep happening to her and when the boyfriend gets home she confronts him about it and he tells her this crazy story and without spoiling it too much he was going to feed her to some monsters.

So from what my boyfriend and I saw- we think the story was a bit deeper than what was really shown in the movie. They show some sort of witch like person that is the creature's mom and they kill her which is why the cousins are taking care of the creatures- but the cousins are immortal- they just feed the creatures people every once and a while when they're screaming so loud that the neighbors can hear. The mother of the creatures is played by the girlfriend in the movie... and he mentions that she looks just like the woman... so I think she's either a descendant of the witch or the actual witch. The movie doesn't really explain this- It also doesn't actually say that this woman is a witch at all... but she's got witch like qualities.

So the ending of this is kind of what you might expect...but it's still pretty good. This movie isn't really groundbreaking or amazing... but I liked it. Osgood Perkins directed this one- I'm a big fan of his movies and I also really liked Tatiana Maslany in this. She's so good in horror movies and she brings a very real charm and she's kind of funny too.

Overall this is a good date movie and if you don't have a date- this is a good movie to watch around Valentine's Day to remind you that men are trash.

Bye!
