Sitcom Sunday: The Soup Guy in Seinfeld did NOTHING wrong

Hi I’m Shannon and I love Sitcoms and I’ve been watching Seinfeld in sort of a chaotic way. I’m not watching it in order of when it aired because the first season is really bad. The second season might also be bad… so I am watching a little bit at a time… but I’m going to watch the last episode last. I will probably also watch the first episode at the end too.
Anyway I work in retail and the Soup Nazi ran a busy soup cafe in New York… which is a touristy place. He didn’t serve people that didn’t respect the ordering process and famously told them “No soup for you!” And I saw that and thought “I wish every place in New York was that efficient.” You have to know what soup you’re getting at the checkout, put your money on the counter, step to the cash register, give the money to the cashier and take your soup. It’s quick and efficient and the soup is really good. He even talks to Kramer and still deals with the line- so if you wanted to talk to the guy you can talk to him AFTER you order. Plus if everyone respects the ordering process or checkout process… there will be no lines- or much shorter lines at least! It’s great!
So while I think he was a little mean to Elaine, Jerry and George- it was for the greater good of having an efficient and delicious soup kitchen. Especially at lunch time which is when it’s the busiest and when people are probably ordering the most soup.
Also just thinking about this now: I’ve been calling this my “chaotic Seinfeld watching” but maybe I should call it “Watching Seinfeld: The Yada Yada Yada method.” Cause that’s kind of how I’m watching it.
I hope you guys like this post! I’ll try to do a Sitcom post every Saturday or Sunday.
Bye!
-Shannon
