Pop Culture Throwback Thursday: Boy Meets World on TGIF

Okay so on ABC in the 90s they had a programming block called TGIF. They had this for a while and there were a lot of shows on there like Family Matters and my favorite- Sabrina The Teenage Witch... but today I want to talk about Boy Meets World and why this was so exciting to watch while it was airing.

So I recently rewatched a lot of Boy Meets World- the last 3 seasons which are what I remember the best from the show... now I'm going back to season 4 and I'll probably go backwards and watch the earlier seasons eventually... but From Season 5 on there was something dramatic happening just about every week on the show. First there was Cory and Topanga breaking up, then they got back together and Topanga proposed to Cory, then there were things like Cory's parents having a baby, Eric trying to adopt a kid, Shawn and Angela breaking up, Shawn's Dad dying and Shawn going on a road trip. It was one thing after the other and it was exciting to keep up with what was going on and... it's not a show I've really thought about in years- but rewatching it brought so much nostalgia. There were so many jokes and moments I remember very specifically- like I can remember where I was and kind of what I was doing when I was watching them. Did I watch it with my parents? Did I watch it alone? Was I paying attention or was I playing with my American Girl Dolls or something else? Did I see it on Disney channel when they re-aired it!

There were so many commercials leading up to these episodes too- like "Is this the end for Cory and Topanga" and showing Topanga proposing to Cory and wondering what Cory will say to her. It was all just really exciting.

I think I also want to look at some like specific themed nights that they would do on TGIF or Must See Tv and see like how the two episodes (or more) went together- sometimes they have a theme to the night and thats something they don't do anymore too.

Bye!
