Pearl Movie Review

So I was excited about this movie and sadly I didn't get to see it in theaters because I just didn't have time to see it in theaters- it wasn't out that long... but my boyfriend got me the Blu Ray- and I didn't actually see X in theaters either so... maybe I will see Maxxxine in theaters who knows.

This is a sequel to the movie X which also came out this year and stars Mia Goth in dual roles as Pearl- an older lady living on a farm, and Maxine- a porn star. Sooo Pearl is obviously the killer in X and this is Pearl's origin story. And I preferred Pearl to X. I kind of thought I would- X was a fun slasher movie but it lacked character development and this was like all character development. And honestly the kills in Pearl were a little more creative in my opinion and it was just... interesting to see why Pearl became the way that she was and... you kind of feel for her even though she's the killer. I've heard this compared to Joker- and it's not quite as deep as Joker was to me-

with scenes like Joker putting himself in the fridge... but this was kind of a similar vibe.

I'm very interested to see Maxxxine because... Maxine wasn't really a villain in X. It will be interesting to see her end up like Pearl maybe?

I also thought visually this movie was beautiful and definitely looked a lot like Wizard of Oz. A lot of Mia Goth's mannerisms I think were taken from that movie also. It was also kind of stylized and it almost reminded me of Amelie. It was kind of crazy to see the same farm from X in this movie.

Overall I really liked this movie. Mia Goth is really great in it and she's just really fun to watch. The story was also really great. I just thought this was a fun movie. I'd watch it again. Compared to something like Barbarian... I prefer Barbarian but... this was really good also.

Bye!
