25 Days of 2025 Movies: Black Bag

2025 was a surprising year for movies for me. A lot of my most anticipated movies were disappointing and a lot of movies I didn’t really expect to be as good were really really good to me. Black Bag was one of the first movies I saw at a time where I saw a lot of movies and it was unexpectedly great! It was a perfect date movie and it kept you guessing.

I’ve heard some negative reviews about it and after seeing the movie a second time I can kind of understand that. There are a lot of scenes where it’s just people having these very pretentious conversations and no one really talks like that in real life. It makes sense to the world of the movie I guess but no one really talks like that.

I also did have a bit of trouble paying attention to the movie. I wouldn’t say that I disliked the movie at all- but when you know what’s coming it isn’t as exciting… so watching it a second time isn’t as fun. Plus this isn’t really a movie you want to watch alone. This is a fun movie to watch with someone else or to watch on a date.

In my overall ranking I still think this would be pretty high. Possibly around the Top 10… if not in the top 10. Definitely a surprise hit for me.
