Movie Monday: Things Women Did in Movies in the 90’s and 2000’s That Would Get Them Fired Today

Okay- so I’ve been trying to watch One movie for each year that I’ve been alive and I’m trying to watch all movies I’ve never seen before- this will likely not be included on a movie Monday here… but it has inspired a sort of “What The F*** Were These Women Thinking” idea that I’ve noticed in 3 movies. The movie that inspired my thinking is the earliest movie in this trilogy and the movie I’m going to start with…

Stepmom (1998)

Okay so Julia Robert’s plays a photographer in this movie I think- I haven’t finished watching it yet actually… Anyway she takes a picture for an ad campaign of this older man that I think is from Craft Services with a bunch of models… and everyone’s like “why are you shooting the guy from craft services.” And she’s like “you’re not seeing the vision.” And then she photoshops a designer suit on the craft services guy for this campaign… and like how??? How was she not fired for that? How could this big designer brand just be like “oh yeah we don’t need a model- just photoshop a suit on anybody”… plus they aren’t even wearing the suits??? It just seems like people would and should be fired for this.

Plus did they even pay the craft services guy as a model??? Did he even do his job as craft services??? Did they even need craft services for this short shoot that she kinda cut corners on???

How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003)

Okay- so this one is pretty funny. I don’t think Andi was working for the right place and… I think maybe she should have gone to Washington DC instead of New York.

So Andi does the How to articles for a magazine similar to Cosmopolitan and she wanted to write articles about politics and war conflict and things that were happening worldwide… and her boss is like “uhhhh no… this is a fashion and dating magazine… we don’t really want that here.”

I can kind of see Andi’s point here because magazines like Playboy do actually have articles about real things in there. I’ve never actually read one- and I don’t know if it’s quite as politcal as whatever Andi wanted to do for her magazine… but I think maybe that’s what she was aiming for. And I get it.

13 Going On 30 (2004)

Alright so in 2004 we have Jenna- our MC from 13 going on 30… and she’s tired of showing all these beautiful models that she doesn’t care about in the magazine she works at. She wants to rework the magazine and have it show things like High School Graduations and she wants to see people she knows in the magazine. She wants to show real women setting an example… and as fun as her idea is… no one is going to care. This is a national magazine and she just wants to show real people that… sure maybe she knows or people in Town or City know… but like… this isn’t going to save a struggling magazine.

So yeah- the last 2 I don’t think are bad ideas but it’s kind of like… no that wouldn’t happen and there are reasons for why it won’t ever happen.

That is everything! I hope you guys like this!

Bye!
