Alright- I saw a movie today and it was a unique experience so… I’ve gotta blog about it! That’s right we’ve got a BONUS Movie Monday. I was going to wait till next week to post this one… but I’m excited I wanted to do a bonus one…

Anyway my boyfriend and I have always wanted to do one of the Screen Unseen movies at AMC and we do like horror movies and there are some good horror movies coming out soon that this might be… so we’re pretty excited for this one!

I’m thinking it’s probably the movie Companion- this releases on Friday and it’s from the same director as Barbarian. There’s also a chance it could be Heart Eyes- which comes out a little closer to Valentine’s Day and I’m not sure who directs it but I think it’s by producers of Scream… and it looks a lot like scream which is exciting. I would rather see Companion and I’m thinking it could be companion… but I’d be happy to see heart eyes… and there are some horror movies coming soon I’m less excited to see… But the fun of mystery is that you really don’t know.

The movie: Companion

Okay so… this will be a spoiler free review because this doesn’t release until Friday but OMG I’m obsessed with this movie… it was so good- I liked it better than Nosferatu even… and Barbarian. This is my favorite movie of the year and I would put this as a top favorite movie of all time. I hope this gets a physical media release because Barbarian didn’t… I can watch this movie every day. I loved it.

I thought the trailer was going to spoil this movie too much… and it kind of did- they didn’t have to say it was a movie about robots… but you find out it’s a robot movie pretty early on anyway and… it’s still a good reveal. I kind of liked that this didn’t have a twist the way Barbarian did. I think this was kind of perfect the way it was and the reveals were all perfect the way they were. A lot of the characters were stupid… but they were supposed to be stupid- and it worked the same way the Home Alone villains being stupid worked.

Okay so for my overall enjoyment it’s definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it was basically a perfect movie and everything else…

Gets feelings of genre- 4.5

Cast- 5

How did it look- 5

Press- 4.5

Music- 5

Character development/ Writing- 5

Total: 29 out of 30

I only knocked half a point off for genre because to me it was more of an action movie than a horror movie… although it did have thriller elements. I also took off half a point for my bonus category of press because I did not like the trailer that much. And I feel like people are going to go into this movie for a horror movie and they’ll be disappointed or the trailer gave a little too much away so they might be disappointed. I loved it though it’s my favorite movie of the year so far and my favorite movie I’ve seen in a while. I’d put this up with Barbie… it also kind of felt like the Barbie movie to me.

Ohhh I also loved that there were a lot of rom com

tropes used in the movie… and a lot of symbolism about ethics, how women are treated and viewed and controlled by society and… it was great. I’ve been dealing with feminist rage lately and this movie made me feel seen… and the villains deserved what they got. Do I think everyone that died was a villain? Not really there was a big kill count in this movie but… it was really good.

Anyway that is it I hope you guys like this! I could give a more spoiler review too… maybe but… go see this movie for sure. It’s one of the best.

Bye!

-Shannon
