Movie Monday: Movies I Watched on My Phone

So I don’t really have much of a tv I can watch on my own right now… so my boyfriend and I have been enjoying movie night on my phone- or his phone and here’s what we watched so far.

Better Man - Streaming on Paramount Plus

So this is the Robbie Williams biopic where Robbie Williams plays himself as a CGI Monkey. We didn’t dislike this movie- but there wasn’t really much to it. We don’t know much about Robbie Williams or Take That and it was interesting to see more about him… it was also not the most interesting biopic. He didn’t have that dramatic of a life… it was still interesting and the music was pretty good- but not that memorable to me. The CGI was good and the fact that Robbie played himself was really interesting. Also he has a grudge against someone from Oasis and it’s very clear in this movie all those years later…

World’s Greatest Dad - Streaming on Peacock (possibly Plex, Pluto Tv, and prime video as well)

So this is a Robin Williams movie that Bobcat Goldwaith wrote and Directed. I love Robin Williams, I really like Bobcat Goldwaith also… this movie was okay.

So the premise of this movie is that Robin Williams is a single dad to his teenage son and a creative writing teacher at his school. His son dies… the same way David Carradine from Kill Bill died… and Robin Williams makes it look like it was a suicide to cover up some of the embarrassment. Williams is a struggling writer in this movie and he writes a fake suicide letter from his son and that is the first time people resonate with his writing… so he writes more as his son… and he gets a little famous for it- and the woman he’s dating starts to gain more interest in him… and ultimately he ends up not feeling great about what he did.

This movie isn’t a must watch- if you’re trying to see every Robin Williams movie you should definitely watch this one- it’s not the worst movie. I enjoyed it but it’s not the easiest one to watch and it would be hard to watch again. It’s an interesting premise though and I liked it.

Another Simple Favor - Prime Video

Alright- possibly a controversial pick but I really enjoyed the first movie A Simple Favor and I was looking forward to the sequel. And if we’re being quite honest… I don’t think Blake Lively should be cancelled for being a mean girl so if I want to see a movie with Blake Lively or Ryan Reynolds… I’m going to watch it.

Anyway this was a similar premise to the first movie and the twist was pretty much the same. I didn’t dislike the movie… but it really is another simple favor. I do like that now we know Blake Lively and Anna Kenderick’s characters and they had a good dynamic in this movie… but the other characters could have been developed a lot better.

My Girl- Tubi (I think???)

So my boyfriend said “what movie should we watch” and I said “I want to watch Macully Culkin get killed by bees” so we watched this movie. It also stars Anna Clumsky from Veep.

So this is a coming of age movie about a girl that lives with her single dad at a funeral home and she seems to have some anxiety because of the funeral home- and her dad sort of doesn’t pay much attention to her because her mom died in childbirth.

This is a great movie, it’s a classic… you will laugh and cry possibly… plus Jamie Lee Curtis was my age now in this movie and she looks amazing. The characters in this movie are really fun and I just really liked it.

And that is everything! I hope you guys like this!

Bye!
