Macy’s Misadventure at mostly abandoned Mall

So… the closest mall near me is mostly abandoned but there is still a Macys and a few other stores so when people I work with say “there is no ____ Mall” I say “yeah- they still have a movie theater I go there all the time.” And it is still a pretty good mall for what it is… so I do go there often and today my mom wanted to go to Macy’s and I wanted to see what they had there… and I thought I would make a little scavenger hunt for myself and see if they had a few trendy things that I thought Macys may have.

Scavenger Hunt List

Nike- the trendy shoes

Adidas- also looking for the trendier shoes

Graphic T Shirts- specifically Dolly Parton and Elvis

Godiva Chocolate Bars

Jellycat- this is what I was expecting to see the least

Handbags- coach, Kate spade any collectible type things.

My exploration

Okay so we entered by the Men’s section- and I felt pretty good about finding graphic t shirts here because most men’s sections have graphic t shirts… but I didn’t see anything at all. There were some Nike ones with graphic designs on it and things but nothing.

So… I went to the Handbag section- and they did have some coach. They even had one bag from the new Denim collection- which was pretty cool.

They also had some Kipling Bags and a few Betsey Johnson’s but nothing super trendy. I’d say Kipling and Coach are maybe the trendiest bags they had there.

Okay- I didn’t see that they had Michael Kors behind the coach- but it didn’t really look like any of the trendier Michael Kors bags.

So then I went to shoes- and they did have Nikes in the women’s sections- but none of the trendier sneakers and no Addidas so I was a little disappointed.

Next I decided to go upstairs because I thought the kids section was upstairs and they might have Jellycat there- and they did have Jellycat dupes- but no actual Jellycat.

What I didn’t expect to find was a Toys R Us section that had Geoffrey Funko Pops which were really cool. They had a great selection of toys there, they had Mini Brands Books and Retro, and they had some cute blind boxes. There was a stitch blind box I was tempted to get… but didn’t. And they had Geoffrey reusable tote bags- which I regret not getting… but I will one day.

Upstairs they also had a Macy’s Backstage area which I was expecting to be an outlet store for Macys… what I was NOT expecting was for it to be basically a TJ Maxx inside of a Macys. They had a lot of the same brands and they had beauty, handbags, clothes- still no graphic ts-, celebrity fragrances, home and pet stuff… they had a lot more than I was expecting. And it was really good quality. The handbags they had were pretty cute!

The Misadventure part

Anyway after exploring that I went back downstairs because I still wanted to find graphic t shirts- and it looked like they had another floor downstairs and that didn’t used to have a lot of stuff but maybe it was different now… and maybe they would have something there…

So as I’m on my way downstairs on the escalator down- I notice the escalator back up is blocked off… and I was like “ohhh no.” Because it’s been a while since I’ve been to Macys- especially the downstairs… but I did not remember another way upstairs besides the one exit so I thought “wait there’s no where back up” and I was like “ohhh no I’ve gotta go back up the down escalator” which I’ve never done before… sooo yeah. Luckily I wasn’t too far down the down escalator so it was just a few steps I had to get up but… I got up and I fell and hurt my foot a bit and now- about 2 hours later my ankle just started to hurt a lot.

Luckily… it’s a Macys at a nearly abandoned mall…

Nobody saw me so I just acted like nothing happened and I was happy to not be stuck on the lowest level of a Macys at an abandoned mall.

After that I met back up with my mom- but we got separated for a bit because I thought she was at a different fitting room than she was. My mom tried on some tops and she got a few and she got some pants that were really nice too… and that was that.

After that…

We did go to Wegmans after that and I was surprised to find that they had Palm Pals and Nee Doh- but I don’t think they had the magazine section they used to have.

That is everything! Hope you guys like this!

Bye!
