John Wick Chapter 4 Review

This is really funny because on my other blog when the first few John Wick movies came out I would say "wow another John Wick movie... how thrilling" not knowing what the movie was about and just entirely disinterested in the franchise as a whole. Once I found out that the first movie was about a retired assassin who comes back after getting revenge on a man that kills his dog... I was in. 100% in. Since then it's probably my favorite non horror non Disney franchise... possibly even just my favorite franchise. I really love all 3 John Wick movies and this one is maybe the best entry in the series so far. Personally I kind of like the first movie best just because of the dogs and the way it sets up the world... but the villains and all the characters of this movie were so layered that it was just... fantastic.

I've heard this being described as one of if not the greatest action film of all time and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I think the story is really good, it felt well paced and there are so many different fight scenes in it that are just so so good! There were fight scenes in Japan, New York and France. There was a fight scene that was shown from an aerial view. There was a fight scene on the streets of France. There were several one on one fight scenes, there was a post credit scene that establishes a fight... there was a lot to this movie that just made for such an amazing action story.

The characters in this movie particularly were very very fun and good too. I think if you're a James Bond fan like I am- you'll see a lot of similarities behind certain characters. One character was a lot like Jaws in particular which was great.

This movie- much like the first John Wick is just a non stop action movie where you'll be smiling the whole time you watch it. I'm not super into violence- I don't believe in guns... but it was really cool to see them in this movie.

I don't know if we'll get any other John Wick movies- I think the director and Keanu Reeves haven't denied wanting to make another movie- but they also said they want to take a break from it for a while. I think there will be some more movies from this universe. I know there's a Continental show coming out and a Ballerina show I think too. There's also a post credits scene of this movie- which is definitely setting up something for the future. And there's one side character in this that it really seems like they are setting up to possibly be a successor to a John Wick and I'm sure he's good and interesting enough that he could get his own movie.

I think I'll save any real spoilers for a Movie Monday post in the future when this is either available for streaming or out on Blu ray and dvd... but overall go out and see this movie in theaters. It's fun to watch any way you watch it- but the audience I saw it with was so much fun!

Bye!
