In The Heights at Count Baisie!

So last weekend I saw Count Baisie was going to do a community production of In The Heights! I saw In The Heights on Broadway and I really liked it- but I didn't quite remember all of it... and then the movie came out and the movies great but it's a little bit different and more focused on Usnavy where in the play each character is important and most of them get their own song and everything... and I wanted to see the play again and seeing it regionally was really good.

So we went on a Sunday- we could park in the parking lot for free and it was just a quick walk to the theater. We were excited to see that unlike broadway- we could actually afford the drinks and snacks at this show- so I got a Malibu and Pineapple Juice, my boyfriend got an angry orchard and we got some popcorn, peanut m&ms and twizzlers. Our seats were right by the door we entered into- we were in Orchestra D and the audience was pretty packed but no one else was in our row- so that was nice. Plus we were right by the door and the bathroom if we needed to step out.

There were so many really friendly ushers who... will shush you if you're being too loud - but they were so nice to everyone and particularly to the family members of the cast. It was nice! The bartender was good, overall it was just a nice theater and a nice time.

The cast was all really great too! They all had really good voices and they seemed to be really into their roles! I like the show In The Heights a lot. It is different than the movie too so if you get a chance to see it live- I recommend it. I like both- but I do like how Slice-of-Life the play is compared to the movie.

After that we went to a really great Chinese restaurant that I don't remember the name of... but I would like to go again... and yeah. We also entered the raffle they had for tickets for their next show or a $50 gift card to the restaurant across the street. We didn't win- but we'll probably try to go again to another show because it was a great show and a fun time!

Bye!
