So I love Ryan La Sala. He has great TikTok’s and he seems like a really nice guy. He’s really funny. This book was not completely for me. I don’t think it’s a bad book by any means and there was a lot I liked about the book. So let’s talk about this!

Okay despite me not really loving the ending of this book… I do have to say it’s kind of brilliant. I love how La Sala talks about gender by showing a non binary main character at a summer camp. I’ve never been to a summer camp- but there are some really weird gender differences that happen at the camp and this book really shows how bizarre that aspect of summer camp really is. I loved the beginning of this book for that.

I also liked the setting of this book a lot. I love a summer camp spooky creepy setting for a horror movie or book. This was great. There’s also a couple of Applebee’s scenes in the book- and I also love that there’s a familiar mundane location in this creepy horror book.

The end of this book is kind of when I didn’t like it as much. It just kind of went off the rails a tiny bit and I thought there was going to be more to it than there was. It also might have just been harder for me to picture at the end… so I would definitely watch a tv show or movie if it gets made. I would want to see these characters and places brought to life.

So while I didn’t think this book was the best for me-

I feel like it’s still a good book. It’s still worth reading although I’m a little upset I bought the hard cover cause… it’s expensive for a book I don’t love and will probably end up un-hauling at some point.

That is everything- I hope you guys like this!

Bye!
