Book Review: Butcher and Blackbird

Okay- I figured I’d review Butcher and Blackbird which I read a few months ago because the sequel Leather and Lark is coming out very soon!

So Butcher and Blackbird is a dark romance about two serial killers who kill other serial killers- so they’re only killing very very bad people… so they’re not bad people- and they don’t JUST kill people. They have like day jobs and stuff too.

So “Butcher” is Rowan- who is a restaurantuer in Boston and “Blackbird” is Sloane- I think her other nickname is the Orb Weaver because of the way she leaves her victims.

This is described as “Golden Retriever and Black Cat” which yes. I’d say Rowan is a very golden retriever boyfriend and he’s very cute. The relationship in this book is very cute- but it’s also really funny. Rowan and Sloane both have some really funny moments and one liners. This is described as a dark romance- but the comedy in this is so good and the relationship is very cute that I don’t think the dark and gory parts- and the encyclopedia list of trigger warnings for this is that unbearable. It’s mostly a rom com with some gore in it.

I also just tore through this book… I’m in a bit of a reading slump now- not a huge slump just a little stuck on reading because of personal reasons- but hopefully I’ll be able to pick this book up and tear right through it!
