31 Days of Spooky Movies: Practical Magic (1998)

Okay- this is not a horror movie at all really but I guess parts of it are a little bit scary. Overall this is a very cozy witch movie that I think I'd like to watch every single fall. This is the only real rewatch movie for me so far in this 31 days of horror movies... there may be more but I'm trying to stick with mostly new watches. I've seen this a lot growing up and I watched the movie once a few years ago where I actually watched the full movie.

One thing I love about this movie is how absolutely beautiful Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are in this movie. Nicole Kidman in particular just looks very beautiful, but they're both really good in this movie and so pretty. This is a story about 2 sisters who are witches and they're raised by their aunts... who are also 2 sisters who are witches. There's romance to this movie, there's a little bit of suspense and drama, but overall its just very very cozy and just a fun movie to watch.

There's a lot going on in the plot, but Sandra Bullock loses her husband because of a family curse, Nicole Kidman's character gets in some trouble with an abusive man and they end up killing her abuser and bringing him back to life. They need the whole town to join them to make a spell more effective... its just really kind of amazing and it is fun to see all these women coming together to help out this family.

Overall this movie is just really fun. Even my boyfriend enjoyed watching this one and it's perfect for fall and halloween- especially if you don't want to watch a scary movie... or if you just want to enjoy a movie with your family or friends or something.

Practical Magic is availble to Stream on Disney Plus and Hulu and it is available for purchase on DVD, digital, and I'm assuming blu ray and 4k. You may even be able to find an old vhs tape of it... I wonder if I have one. This movie is directed by Griffin Dune and rated PG-13.
