31 Days of Spooky Movies: Halloween Ends

Halloween Ends and so does my 31 days of spooky movies. I know- today is only the 30th- but today is the last movie review I’ll be doing and tomorrow for Halloween I’ll do my ranking of all the movies I watched- which was actually 33 movies. I’m going to continue movie and tv reviews probably for the rest of this blog… just because it’s super easy to do and I like it. Anyway onto the review for Halloween Ends!

So after the last movie… the town was ready to kill Michael Myers and they chanted “evil dies tonight” about a thousand times… you would think this movie would start right off with a battle between Laurie and Michael Myers or the Town and Michael Myers… but it doesn’t. It opens with our new “villain” Cory- a young babysitter watching a kid who is afraid of Michael Myers and wants to watch monster movies…and when Cory says he’s too old to be afraid of anything- the kid locks Cory in the attack and while Cory is kicking and trying to get out- he kicks the door too hard and it knocks the kid over down the stairs and the child dies…I think we get the Halloween theme song and jack o lantern opening right after that.

So the town blames Cory for the death- and everyone hates him except for Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson… she flirts with him at a bar and they end up dating… and the movie is like a rom com for the next like 20 minutes until Cory taken to the sewer with no escape and he sees someone down there… Michael Myers himself! Instead of killing Cory- Michael let’s him live… and then Cory turns evil.

Then Cory and Michael start killing a bunch of people and the movie is trying to have a message of “is evil born or is it made” but it kind of doesn’t really pan out because I don’t think Cory was evil before the events… but Michael Myers kills him before we really find out. Actually Laurie and Allyson really have no idea that Cory’s been killing with Michael Myers- so they really don’t know he’s evil besides Laurie’s Gut feeling… which is kind of crazy.

So yeah… Michael Myers doesn’t appear in this movie for the first 40 minutes… and he doesn’t face Laurie until like the last 10 minutes… so it’s just a bit of an odd story. I really liked it the first time I saw it when it came out- I was a little bored watching it this time compared to the other Halloween movies… but it’s not the best. It was okay but not my favorite movie. I did really like it the first time watching it because it was so bizarre and it does have good characters and good kills… but it just doesn’t really leave a good ending for this trilogy- which is probably my favorite full trilogy in the Halloween franchise.

Alright- that’s everything! Tomorrow I’ll do a ranking of all the horror movies I watched!

Bye!
