31 Days of Spooky Movies: Halloween (2018)

This year I became obsessed with the Chucky movies and TV show- so naturally the slasher movies I've chosen to watch for the Halloween season was Halloween with Michael Myers. I picked this instead of Chucky because I can watch a Chucky Movie any time during the year- but the Halloween Movies I thought might be better to watch around Halloween.

So the events of this movie happen 40 years after the events of the first Halloween movie. It doesn't follow the events of Halloween 2, not the Thorn Trilogy, and sadly not H20. This is just Lori and her somewhat estranged family.

This feels like a good way to have a classic slasher movie in the year 2018. It's got more modern events and some more brutal kills for Michael Myers- we even get to see what he looks like under the mask briefly. This movie also doesn't really mention that Michael Myers can't be killed- He's just kind of too quick in this movie to catch him. Plus we have notes from Loomis saying to incinerate the body immediately so I think it's just kind of assumed that that is the way to kill Michael Myers in this universe.

The kills in this movie were exciting and there were a lot of them... and they were brutal and scary by today's standards. There's an adorable kid and his dad and the kid explains that he just wants to dance... and that kid gets murdered. There's a moment where we hear baby sounds and it seems like Michael Myers is going to kill a baby. There are some really interesting minor characters in this movie... and we see most of them get killed or run away- so this one is definitely scarier.

The mask in this movie is also the coolest mask so far. I've heard some people not liking it- but my boyfriend and I really ended up liking it. The original mask that was used in the first 2 movies got destroyed- I think because they just painted over a low quality William Shatner mask and I don't think it held up by the time Halloween 4 was made so... it had been hard for them to find something as scary. This one is the scariest mask in my opinion and probably the scariest of the movies.

Lori is also really cool in this movie. She's kind of a survivalist- but only because she's prepping to fight Michael Myers again. She's just trying to save her family and it might be a bit harsh... but she's doing a good job of it I think. It might have been too much for her daughter when she was growing up... but she keeps them safe.

So so far... this is honestly my favorite Halloween sequel- including Halloween 2. I think this one is really solid and scary. I've seen Halloween Ends- so I'm aware that the last movie has problems... but now that I've seen nearly all the Halloween movies- I have a feeling I can see what they were going for in that movie.

So that is everything so far... kind of funny that the last movie I might talk about for this series is Halloween Ends- which I know isn't the best movie... but it'll be pretty fun overall.

Bye!

I think the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy is an underrated gem compared to a lot of the other Halloween movies. I feel like I've heard all of these are really bad... but honestly I liked them more than

Okay... so the next 3 movies in the Halloween series are not ones I would recommend watching. They aren't terrible... but I'm not planning on watching this series again and there isn't much I have to
