Alright- so I didn't realize how many Halloween movies there were in the series and a lot of them aren't that good... so after 2 and 3 I may combine my reviews for 4,5,and 6... and I may end up finishing up with the Blumhouse Halloween movies that came out recently... and I'm not sure if I'll combine those or not. I've seen Halloween Ends and it's insane so I might have a lot to say about that one. Halloween 2 is also a movie I have a lot to say about so let's get into it!
So the movie starts out a little bit slower. Not overly slow but- it's kind of similar to the first Halloween movie. It's just more Michael Meyers and it takes place later on on Halloween night from the first movie. I think that's the best way that the Halloween movies work- I like the story contained to one day and the fact that 2 movies are on one day is even better.
So while this movie is the same concept- I can see why people might like this movie better than the first movie. It's not as interesting in my opinion- but the chase scenes are a little more exciting and the kills are pretty good in this one. The beginning of this movie also kind of foreshadows the ending of the movie... and it's kind of insane. We see Michael Meyers really get beat up... and he still can't die... but he's in pretty bad condition after this movie... it's very very cool.
The movie stated out with kind of too many characters- with it following mostly Lori and Loomis in different situations. Loomis is trying to identify a body that might be Michael Meyers and Lori is recovering in the hospital while being chased. I liked the chase scenes this created and there are some interesting locations in this movie compared to the others.
This is also the last Halloween movie that really shows how Smart Michael Meyers is... compared to other slashers I would say he's the smartest... other than maybe Chucky who is still my favorite. I would also recommend watching the first three at least pretty close together and in October or near Halloween... but if you only have time for 2 movies... just watch the first two.
Halloween 2 is rated R and directed by Rick Rosenthal. It's available to own on dvd, blu ray, digital, 4k and I'm sure you can find the VHS anywhere if you look for it. You could also probably rent it on digital and you can stream it on Peacock- and possibly Shudder? Or AMC+... I'm not really sure.
Bye!
