Alright- today I have another movie from 2025 that has similar outlandish deaths to the last movie I talked about- we've got a new Final Destination movie featuring the last acting role of horror legend Tony Todd- known for playing the original Candyman.
So I've never actually watched a Final Destination movie before seeing this one... but I do know the concept started as an X Files episode and I am a huge X Files fan... so the movie itself did feel familiar even though I pretty much went into the movie not knowing much.
The movie starts with a big disaster happening that's supposed to kill everyone in the building- and then we find out its a premonition. Some of the events that happened in the premonition did happen in real life- but the disaster was mostly avoided because of the grandmother of our main characters family. The family isn't close with the grandmother- but the main character visits her and she lets her know this disaster was supposed to happen and because she prevented it- death has been after her and all the people that were supposed to die in that accident. And she shows her other people from this incident have died from horrible freak accidents- and because the family members weren't supposed to exist- they're all next.
So the deaths in this are all pretty exciting because they're all freak accidents that are pretty grisly. My main takeaway from this movie was how nonchalant the family was about these disasters though. They just kind of leave sharp objects all around their lawn, they don't really look around at their surroundings at all even though they know the curse is after them... I just found that the biggest thing in the movie that was kind of suspended reality. I don't think this could ever happen in my family because everyone in my family is kind of prepared for the worst case scenario and we warn others about the things around them if we see something no one else does. This family was not observant at all... which made the movie a little bit comical.
I kind of wish they had a few less characters because there wasn't really much character development at all and it was a bit too much to watch all of these characters die one by one in a relatively short run time.
I think the highlight of this movie was the brief cameo of Tony Todd. He was only in for a little bit- but he is such an amazing actor and especially in horror movies. I think this was a fitting final movie for him and he did such a great job. He totally made the movie.
Overall- this movie was okay. It had good death scenes, a good story, and it made me want to watch some of the other Final Destination movies.
Final Destination Bloodlines is Rated R and it is streaming on HBO Max along with all the other final destination movies. This one was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. This is also available to own on blu ray, dvd, and 4K and digital.
Bye!
