30 More Days of Movies: Wicked For Good

Now for the movie I’ve been waiting for: Wicked For Good. I thought it would be hard to top the first Wicked movie because I liked it so much- plus I’m not the biggest fan of Act 2 of Wicked… but I actually kind of liked this movie more than the first one… which was shocking.

I think I prefer the songs in the first act of wicked- but the storyline in this movie particularly was a lot more like The Wizard of Oz and I just thought it did a great job telling the story. Plus the cast was so great too. Overall it was just a very fun movie!

This movie a lot of people are saying is more Glinda’s movie than Elphaba’s and it kind of is. I have a hard time choosing a favorite between the two-but I have to say I feel like I can relate to Glinda a lot. Glinda is popular and well liked- but she isn’t powerful. Elphaba is hated but she’s powerful. Both can cause change but it’s hard for them to do so together. But yeah I think it’s easy to relate to both characters.

I also thought the movie looked a lot better than the first movie. The colors seemed brighter and there were more of them. The poppy fields were beutiful- the yellow brick road looked great. I just really liked it.

The end of the movie was also similar to the play from what I remember but it felt more sad and a little bit more suspenseful. I don’t want to get into spoilers but I feel like you don’t really know the fate of everything. That kind of happens throughout the movie too- like when the thing that happens with Boq is revealed- it’s interesting. A very well paced sequel.

So overall I really liked the movie and I would recommend seeing it! Especially if you like The Wizard of Oz.
