30 More Days of Movies: Roofman

I recently saw Tron: Ares and when I told my mom that my boyfriend and I were seeing a movie- my mom got really excited and said "Ohhh are you seeing Roofman" and then I was disappointed that we weren't seeing Roofman.

This is an insane but true story about a man that would go on the roof of McDonalds and sneak inside and rob the McDonalds. The man ended up going to jail- but he escaped and hid out in a Toys R Us for several months. The real Roofman eventually went to a circuit city too and after he was ultimately put in jail- he attempted escaping 2 more times.

This movie has Channing Tatum playing this sort of "Good Guy" criminal. He wasn't a bad person- he just did the wrong things and it was hard for him to get money after coming home from the war. This doesn't really show him robbing the McDonald's- just his time hiding out in the Toys R Us and eventually getting involved in a Church group while donating Toys to a toy drive and he meets up with a woman he eventually starts dating- Kirsten Dunst.

I thought Channing Tatum did a great job in this kind of slice of life movie and I miss movies like this- so I was really happy to see this one actually released in theaters. Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage were also great in this movie and overall I just thought this one was fun. It is a crazy story that did definitely deserve a movie. I also think its worth seeing in theaters if its still out now. It's a fun movie!
