30 More Days of Movies: Lakeview Terrace

Okay- so one of my boyfriends picks from the library- a movie I've wanted to watch for a while: Lakeview Terrace. This is what I like to call a "three person thriller" which is usually a movie about a couple and then someone usually has some sort of problem with the couple or an obsession with one of the people in the couple and things happen because of that. Obsessed is one I saw recently... there are a few more movies I can think of that have the same element. This is the movie that I think really popularized the Three Person Thriller I think. I remember hearing people talk about this one when it released.
So in this one there is a young couple that moves next door to Samuel L. Jackson in this lovely gated community called Lakeview and the couple is played by Kerri Washington aka Olivia Pope from Scandal and Patrick Wilson. Samuel L. Jackson seems to have a problem with the fact that they are a mixed race couple.
Samuel L Jackson does a great job in this movie. He plays an LAPD officer who lost his wife in a car accident and is struggling trying to raise his 2 kids. He's very strict and harsh- especially to his daughter and... it's pretty clear in this movie that there's something really wrong with him. He seems really scary in this and very powerful. I haven't seen that many Samuel L. Jackson villain roles- but he did a really good job in this. Samuel L. Jackson is in a lot of movies that I've seen and he always improves the movies he's in.
The other actors in this movie were good also- I like Kerri Washington a lot so I like seeing things with her in it. Patrick Wilson did a great job also- even the kids and the minor characters were good and this was a fun to watch movie all around. Usually there's a crazy fight scene or action sequence in these types of movies... and this one was really good. It even kind of had a twist I didn't really see coming. I liked it!
I would recommend watching this if you like Samuel L. Jackson or you're just in the mood for a good thriller. This one was definitely better than Obsessed- although the fight scene between Beyonce and Ali Larter in Obsessed is still a great scene.
Bye!
