30 More Days of Movies: Because I Said So

Okay- so I'm running a little bit behind on my movie watching. I have a lot of dvds and blu rays, streaming services and I have some dvds from the library that I borrowed... but I haven't gotten a chance to watch them yet. I've been busy watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Chucky and catching up on Dancing With The Stars... sooo if I get behind on some movies- I may supplement the things I watch with posts about those... but I still have 2 movies I've finished so I can at least write some reviews on those!
Anyway- Because I said so stars Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore as a mother and daughter and Lauren Graham and Piper Perabo play Mandy Moore's older sisters. Diane Keaton is Daphne Wilder and she's very happy her 2 oldest daughters are married and she just wants the best for her youngest daughter Milly- who seems to always choose the wrong men. Daphne thinks that if she sets up a dating profile for her daughter and meets with the men- she can pick one that her daughter will like. And when she starts there are a lot of not so great guys, and the musician at the restaurant she's meeting these men at ends up saving her from someone that she meets with. I forget exactly who it is but it's another very overbearing woman who isn't really helping Daphne in any way. I don't have this movie any more- my boyfriend got it for me from his library... so I'm not exactly sure what happens... but it was something she really needed saving from and Johnny was doing her a solid by saving her and he wanted to meet her daughter but Daphne says no. Daphne ends up meeting a nice man with a good job named Jason and she thinks he's perfect!
Milly ends up meeting Johnny by chance and Jason falsely by chance and she ends up dating them both and she likes them both. Jason is a single dad- but he's really a good guy and she can be herself around him. Jason isn't exactly a bad guy- but he orders Milly's food for her, and she just can't really be herself around her. Daphne is trying to push Jason on Milly though- so she stays with him until both men find out about each other.
Over all- this was a pretty cute movie but it was low on drama and none of the characters are exactly "bad" but none of the ones we're kind of rooting for are that much better. It seems strange that Johnny doesn't know about Jason because he was there when Jason and Daphne met and he knows what Daphne is doing... and Milly kind of dates both of these guys for a long time... and things get serious with both of them... which isn't exactly "wrong" but she strings them both along for a while. Plus I don't see why Daphne was pushing so hard for Jason when he was clearly wrong.
All in all it's not that great of a movie- but it's still sweet and heartwarming and I would recommend watching it. I would also watch it again.
So for these 3 movies that I thought would be similar... I think my favorite is Georgia Rule, followed by Because I Said So and then You, Again would be my least favorite. None of the movies are bad- but it's my personal preference. I'm a big fan of Lindsay Lohan and Garry Marshall so Georgia Rule is a good movie for me to watch... but it was really serious which I wasn't expecting. You Again I would say is a good comedy but it lacked in character Development. Because I Said So was maybe less memorable... but I think the characters were developed a little bit better.
So there we go! The end of my 3 mother daughter feel good movies... tomorrow will be a very different Mother/ Daughter movie... The Exorcist... so I will see you guys then!
Bye!
