Okay- this movie isn’t exactly about romance… but it is about relationships so I thought it would still be fitting. Plus my boyfriend picked this movie and I just have a few movies left!
Daytrippers is about a woman that finds a love note written to her husband from someone named Sandy and it’s a very sweet, romantic note… so she goes to see her parents and she’s like “hey what’s all this about.” Her parents, her sister and her sisters boyfriend are kind of like “I’m not really sure it could be something- it could be nothing. Why don’t we go to his office in the city and find out.” So that is what they do.
This is a great comedy from 1996 with an incredible cast. Ann Meara played the mom character and she was great. She’s so funny and she really makes this movie. In case you didn’t know Ann Meara was Jerry Stillers wife and of course Ben Stiller’s mom. The movie also has a young Parker Posey and Liev Schriver and Stanley Tucci plays the husband that everyone is questioning if he’s cheating or not. Our main character is Eliza played by Hope Davis- who i’ve only seen in a few things but she’s been in a lot of movies.
This movie is just really funny. I recommend it if you’re in the mood for a 90’s comedy with a nice look at 90’s New York City. It all felt very real, very low budget and it was just really good.
So while this isn’t a full “valentine’s day” or “romance” movie necessarily- it is a movie about relationships and the problems in them…so to me that counts in this Valentine’s day challenge.
Bye!
