Okay- there are definitely more than 25 movies I want to watch this Christmas and these two are both on Disney Plus and one I haven’t seen in a while and the other is brand new- so it was my first time watching it. When Jonas Christmas was announced- it kind of reminded me of I’ll Be Home For Christmas starring the one and only Jonathan Taylor Thomas- so I had to lump them together for this one.
I’ll Be Home For Christmas
Okay so this movie stars JTT as a college student who lost his mom not that long ago and he hasn’t been home for Christmas since then. His dad quickly married someone else and he has a little sister too and the dad just wants him Home for Christmas so he promises him that if he can make it home at a 6pm on a certain day- he’ll get the Porsche that he and his dad had been working on together.
So… basically this is sort of a kids version of Planes, Trains and Autombobiles- but with just one guy trying to get home for Christmas. He goes to school in California and he’s trying to make it home to New York. He gets stranded in a Santa suit in the desert because he got some guys at his school mad. He also has a girlfriend played by a young Jessica Biel who he’s sort of fighting with and he was supposed to take her home too- but because he gets stranded in the desert she ends up with a bully guy. This movie has a lot going on… not in a bad way just a lot.
This isn’t a movie I feel like I have to see every year- but I do enjoy it. It’s a fun watch, I think this is my third time watching it? I saw it once on VHS as a kid, once when I was in high school and I think that was it. It’s kind of underrated in that way but it’s also not my favorite so I guess that’s kind of why.
A Very Jonas Christmas Movie
Ok now for this one… which I thought was pretty good. I’m a very casual Jonas Brothers fan- I like most of their songs but I don’t really seek them out. I do like the Celebrity Relative show that Kevin and Frankie host together- and Frankie was in this movie so I was excited.
This movie stars the Jonas Brothers as versions of themselves and Joe just wants the brothers to hang out a little more instead of going their seperate ways after their tour and for the holidays… so Jesse Tyler Ferguson who plays either Santa or a Wizard- curses them to not be able to go home until they spend some time together. And they all have something that they’re kind of insecure about. Kevin wants to sing solo on a song, Joe doesn’t want his brothers to think he’s a womanizer or a party boy, and Nick doesn’t want to be thought of as the un-fun one that plans everything.
This movie has a lot of cameos and a lot of songs. The cameos were all very fun, and the songs weren’t bad… but I don’t really think they added anything to the movie. They slowed down the plot a little bit so it wasn’t my favorite thing ever.
That is everything- I hope you like this review! Tomorrow I think I’ll be doing some muppet Christmas things and another Christmas Carol that I love.
Bye!
