25 Days of Christmas Movies: Die Hard

I’ve never seen Die Hard before- but I think it counts as a Christmas Movie. I don’t think this movie would have worked as well if it didn’t take place on Christmas because I think Hans Gruber used the Christmas Party as part of his plan. I also think it was part of John McClain’s motivation- he wanted to make sure all of the employees were able to make it home for christmas.

This is also just a great action movie- it has a little bit of everything you could want in an action movie. The villains are great, but it’s satisfying to watch them get defeated. John McClain is a great hero and he’s got a great catch phrase. I think my favorite characters were the side characters. I loved Reginald VelJohnson’s character and I loved the driver… it had some really funny moments for an action movie and really memorable characters.

One of my favorite scenes was the ending where we see Hans falling out of the window… I know this is a spoiler- but this is such an iconic ending shot that there’s an Christmas Countdown calendar themed to this.

Fun watch for sure! Would definitely watch it again next Christmas!
