Throwback Thursday: When Daphne and Niles got together on Frasier

Okay- you guys know I love Frasier- and I feel like one of my absolute core memories is watching the episode where Niles and Daphne got together live on tv.

So I just rewatched where they confess their feelings and run away together at Daphne's wedding- and I remember watching that as a kid... I didn't watch Frasier all the time but I knew that Niles was Frasier's annoying brother and Daphne was the wisecracking helper. I didn't know the context of Niles being madly in love with Daphne since the moment he saw her. I did know that Daphne was getting married and that Niles had gotten married. I forgot all about Mel- I knew he had a wife named Maris from some reruns I'd watched more recently- But I forgot about Mel completely until I read the episode descriptions and then remembered it.

I remember it being very romantic that they got together- it seemed very sudden- like they had been friends and then they just fell in love and they had to leave their boyfriend and girlfriend to be together. And they just drove off together when she was still in the wedding dress and everything. It was very sweet and I'm pretty sure my Barbie's also ended up in similar love triangles and they ended up with their right person.

Watching it now I still ABSOLUTELY love Niles and Daphne together- but I feel like there are a lot of issues with their relationship. I think the writers of Frasier do a great job of kind of using the things that would make regular relationships complicated and turning them into something that makes Niles and Daphne so great. I'll have to finish up the series for more info on that for sure... but so far that's what I think of Niles and Daphne.

I also just like how the episodes are called "and the dish ran away with the spoon." I always thought that was very sweet too. I think they said it in the episode at one point? I'm not sure because I feel like I always knew that was the title of the episode??? Or something I'm not really sure how I would have known that otherwise.

That is everything! I hope you guys like it!

Bye!

-Shannon
