When this movie was announced I was kind of excited and kind of nervous. I liked the original Orphan when I saw it- but it seemed like this would be a hard prequel to make because the girl that plays Esther is an adult now... but I actually think that worked for this movie in some ways... overall I liked this movie and it was just kind of an unexpected gem!
So this isn't actual the first kill... this title is Kind of just bad overall because she's not an Orphan in the movie and this isn't her first kill... I kind of wished they had just called it Esther or Orphan: Esther Origins... but still.
In this movie we see Leena- her real name before she becomes Esther- in an insane asylum before she poses as a missing child named Esther. Now the first question I had was "if she isn't really Esther... then where is Esther." Which we learn and this is kind of a spoiler but the family has more secrets than meets the eye.
I kind of thought there was something weird with the family- but it was still a pretty good reveal to me and overall I just kind of liked the movie! It was unexpected- Julia Stiles did a really good job in it. I just thought this was fun.
I would recommend watching this if you have paramount plus. I'm kind of surprised this wasn't released in theaters the way Smile was but... yeah it was good!
Definitely watch the first Orphan movie first... but I kind of liked this one more.
Bye!
