Movie Monday: Memorable Moments of the Saw Franchise

So- I just saw Saw X and it's been a while since I've seen the other Saw movies... so I don't 100 percent remember all of them and I don't remember which movie is which... but there are some real standout moments in the franchise... so I'm going to talk about them and... yeah. These aren't the best moments or the worst moments- these are just moments that I remember... no particular order. Spoilers so see the movies and then come back.

Hello Zep

Okay so the whole ending scene of the first movie is OBVIOUSLY going to be what I talk about first. So there are a few twists and reveals during this end sentence... but I'm going to talk about Zepp being the one controlling the game- but then he wasn't even the villain... we see John Kramer- who appeared to be dead the whole movie- Get up and reveal himself as the real Jigsaw... it's great. It's unexpected and... iconic.

Also the score from Saw is just amazing- and the name of the score is Hello Zepp.

Chester Bennington Cameo

So Saw 3D or Saw The Final Chapter is not the best Saw movie by any means... I would say it's probably the worst of the franchise- but... I feel like no one talks about the Saw Movies without mentioning the Chester Bennington Cameo from this saw movie. It was really great- and he got it kind of by chance. Chester was a big Saw fan and someone that was in Linkin Park or something was neighbors with one of the Saw producers. The guy that knew Chester said "Chester loves the saw movies! He always goes to see them!" And then the producer asked if Chester wanted to be in a Saw movie. Great cameo RIP Chester.

The Opening Scene of Saw The Final Chapter

Again... kind of a bad movie- but the opening scene to this was pretty memorable. 3 people were in a window display saw trap... and there was like a love triangle or something and... it was kind of unbelievable but it did really set the tone for the whole movie.

John Kramer as a dying man in Saw 3

Saw 3 is my favorite Saw Movie. I need to watch the first 3 or 4 movies again. In Saw 3 we really see why Tobin Bell makes this series. So he's evil and we hate him for all these awful traps he sets up... but I also really didn't want him to die in this movie... for several reasons but... he was very human and vulnerable in this movie.

The Timeline of the first few movies

So Saw 2 And Saw take place at the same time more or less and the same with Saw 3 and 4. The reveal in 4 wasn't as good but... it was still pretty great.

I know the trap in Saw 2 is a lot of people's favorite traps/ reveals... that makes sense. Saw 2 was really good overall. It's just kind of amazing how all of these are sort of happening almost at the same time or within a few weeks of each other.

Amanda

Amanda in general... one of the best characters in the movie. She's a great accomplice to Jigsaw and... she has the best reasoning for following Jigsaw. She was in one of Kramer's traps- and she survived and got the help she needed to get off of drugs... but it's also kind of bad... but she's a good character with a lot of layers.

The trap with the healthcare workers

I don't remember which movie this is in... but this one is why I like the saw movies so much... it does show complicated problems that just about everyone deals with or can relate to. This is another one I always hear about when people mention the movies.

The Eye Trap from Saw X

So I'm including the recent "fake out" Saw trap because I kind of like this movie and this trap was brutal, I also like that it's a fake out... but most of all this shows us how Kramer works and how he picks his victims.

Gideon Kramer

John's backstory with his wife and his son Gideon is one of the reasons I think of this series as a "horror" soap opera. This scene is so overly dramatic and... it's almost a little silly. But this is still... something I'm thinking will come back again. I'm thinking Gideon Kramer is still out there and will come back. Probably not but it could happen.

Billy

Billy is such a creepy puppet. Obviously he's gotta be on this list and I will NOT include anything from Spiral because Spiral is the worst Saw Movie.

Bye!
