Is Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd The Greatest Song of All Time?

Alright this time I had outside help for this song. I do know this song and I do like the song... but this was my boyfriend Aspen's pick and you know what? He's right this deserves a place on this list.

Why do other People Like it?

So I'm starting this out with why other people like it before I get into why I like it because... this isn't my pick and I'm not super connected to this song. But my boyfriend said "that solo alone." And I have to agree. Lynyrd Skynyrd has some really awesome guitar. I don't know their music that well... but these are just facts. People love them because they're just damn good.

Why do I like it?

I have to be honest I feel like I didn't know this song well enough to include it in my ranking... but the only criteria I have is that I have to like the song myself. And I do- I love this song! The lyrics are really good and I love when a song is kind of long but the lyrics don't get repetitive. This song is 9 minutes of awesome guitar and really powerful lyrics that I feel like everyone can relate to to some extent and... it just works. I really like it overall!

Ranking

I feel like this might be kind of obvious that I don't like this song quite as much as Ziggy Stardust or Superstition... which are my only 2 candidates so far for the GOAT song. But my boyfriend was right this is a really good song and it definitely deserves a place on this list.

  1. Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie

  2. Superstition by Stevie Wonder

  3. Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I think I'm going to go a little more modern for my next song and do one that I personally feel is very powerful... and it's been a while since I've listened to it so I'm excited for that.

Bye!

-Shannon
