25 Movies of 2025: Weapons (rewatch)

Okay so I know I reviewed Weapons already in my Horror Movies post in October- but at that point I had seen the movie weeks before I wrote the post. Plus this was one of my favorite movies of the year… I needed to watch it again. I think I actually liked it more the second time watching it- which surprised me! My boyfriend did not like it as much after watching it a second time… but I think I liked it better.

I genuinely think at the beginning of the movie-

this is one of the scariest movies ever. It’s just creepy and unsettling and kind of dreamlike and werid. I think it kind of loses some of that creepiness when they show the Cop’s point of view and then the drug addicts. It doesn’t blend the comedy with the horror that well and once we get a clearer picture of Aunt Gladys as a villain- I don’t think she’s quite as scary or as powerful as we believe her to be at the start of the movie.

The segments also did feel a lot faster watching it the second time. It could be because I was watching it while doing other things like cleaning and I paused it to eat dinner and came back to it after… but that didn’t ruin the movie for me either. I still liked it and it just makes me want to watch it again while I’m paying a little more attention to it.

One thing I think I would like about this movie would be if there was a halloween scene to it. I feel like this would be a good movie to watch around Halloween and I just kind of wish there was one halloween scene to it!

Also I watched some of the featurettes for this movie and they were fun to watch. The kid that plays Alex actually loved the movie and he said Zach Cregger was great to work with. He said he was so nice and gave great notes. That kind of warmed my heart a little because the kid that played Alex did such a great job playing such a tragic character… I’m glad he had fun doing the movie and that he is proud of the work he did.

Alright- that’s it! This might move up on my ranking which I will do sometime at the end of all this!

Bye!

-Shannon
