25 Days of Christmas Movies: All 3 Versions of The Grinch

I watched all 3 versions of How The Grinch Stole Christmas and I liked them all… but I have some favorites!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carey)

So this was the first Grinch that I watched and I haven’t seen this in a little while. My mom doesn’t really like this one that much- but it used to be one I watched every year and I really like it!

I still really like the movie- I remember seeing the trailer for it and the behind the scenes things that they’d show on shows like Access Hollywood and I was so excited as a kid… so I tried to remember that while I was watching it. Some of the extended story I thought was a little weird- like the things with his moms and with Martha May Hoovier. It’s a little weird to see the world of Dr. Seuss brought to life- and I don’t think my mom likes the movie for that reason… but in general I think this is the best adaptation of it.

The Grinch (Animated Feature Length starring Benedict Cumberbatch)

So this was the most recent adaptation of The Grinch and this one is probably my least favorite of the three. It’s still a fun movie… but it’s missing some elements I love from the other 2 versions of the movie.

First off they don’t really play You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch during the scene of The Grinch becoming The Grinch. I also don’t think they really show Santa in this movie… which they show that Santa leaves in the Jim Carey version and I really like that. They also don’t really show The Grinch bringing back christmas if i’m not mistaken. I like the character design of the Who’s but this one isn’t my favorite.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (original)

This one is just great. This has the best version of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and I just really like this one. It’s short- but sweet and the Boris Karloff naration and the animation in this one is really great. I also like the song at the beginning- which I had forgotten about because it’s been so long since i’ve seen this movie from the beginning! I really liked this one.

Bonus Movies

So I also watched the movie Oh What Fun with my parents and this movie just seemed like an Ad for amazon. The performances were okay but there wasn’t much plot to the movie. There were a few funny moments- but it was an Amazon movie made to promote amazon products.

On the original grinch blu ray I have- it also came with The Grinch Grinches The Cat in The Hat and Halloween Night is Grinch Night- which were a little bit boring but well animated and voice acted. I fell asleep a bit during both of them but they were good!
