Wonka Review: I Actually Liked It

So I wasn't sure what to expect from Wonka. I had heard a lot of really negative reviews about it- But I've also heard some good reviews from actual people and not just critics... so I went in with kind of low expectations and I really enjoyed the movie. I was laughing and smiling the whole time- and the music in it was quite fun.

I thought Timothee Chalamet was a good choice for Wonka. He seemed to have a lot of energy in the movie, his singing voice was pretty good and he had good chemistry with the rest of the cast. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything besides Don't Look Up - but he's a good leading man and I would watch him in more movies.

One of the issues I had in the movie... this town runs entirely on Chocolate and it is COMPLETELY corrupt. It kind of makes things funny- but all the villains in the movie are totally ridiculous. Like I don't think their plot is really something that would make them money or famous.

The one really disappointing moment was when they finally sang Pure Imagination. It wasn't really the right time to sing it- it just felt really odd and out of place. It's like they had so much music in the movie they just forgot to use pure imagination and then they threw it in at the end where it didn't make a lot of sense.

Some of the jokes went on a little bit too long too. And the movie was kind of a dark color palette... which I think is kind of a problem a lot of recent movies have. Wonka and the world he's from should be a little more Colorful and fun. These things didn't ruin the movie for me but they're things to be aware of.

Overall I enjoyed it. I might watch this with my family

for my birthday this year.

Bye!
