25 Days of Movies from 2025: Wake Up Dead Man - A Knives Out Mystery

I loved the original Knives Out and I thought the sequel was good- but it didn’t really match the charm of the original movie… I was excited for this movie because I thought it sounded as good as the original… and i’m not exactly sure why- but this one just didn’t work for me. I think it was my least favorite of the Knives Out Movies and my least favorite mystery so far.

I love Benoit Blanc and my favorite part of Glass Onion was the sort of focus on his life… but this one didn’t really give us much about him as a character at all. And the characters didn’t really get developed enough and there really was no chemistry between them at all.

I also didn’t really like the mystery of this one that much… to me they did a good job of giving everyone a motive as to why they would kill the victim… but it was painfully obvious who killed the victim from the beginning. I don’t want to spoil it- but if you make a guess of who did it… that’s probably who it is.

There’s also a bit of a twist to this one… which isn’t a bad twist but it does kind of make this less of a whodunnit because… there are more people involved.

I also think because of the resurgence of great mystery procedural shows- Knives Out really needs to step up their game to be as good as shows like Elsbeth and High Potential. There are better mysteries that are released on a Weekly Basis that I would say are much more worth people’s time.
