Movie Monday: The New Movies I Watched This Weekend

Okay so this week I watched 2 movies- one in theaters and one on Netflix. I saw The Boy and The Heron and May/ December.

I'll start with the Boy and the Heron because I don't have a lot to say about that... but I do think if you're a Ghibli fan- you should see it in theaters. This was the first Ghibli movie my boyfriend and I actually saw in theaters and now we want to watch the other ones in theaters.

I might have a hard time reviewing this because I saw it in Japanese and not the English Dub... so I think some details might have gotten missed out while I reading subtitles. It was also a strange movie and parts of it I was like "this is weird" but then it kind of picked up. It wasn't my favorite Ghibli movie- but I really liked it.

Now May/ December is another story... I heard the performances of this one were good- I knew it was loosely based off the Mary Kay Loturno story about a teacher that had a baby with her 6th or 7th grade student and ended up marrying him after she got out of jail.

While I thought Charles Melton did a great job acting... this movie wasn't exactly like I was expecting it to be. Natalie Portman's character just wasn't what I was expecting. She was an actress playing the role of Julianne Moore's character Gracie... but I think the movie was mostly about her as an actress and I think she maybe should have been a minor character that was meant to be kind of a mirror to the audience... instead we got a lot of her feelings about this role In it and I just didn't think her part seemed realistic.

That is everything! I hope you guys like this post!

Bye!
