Jo Koy Golden Globes

So... The Golden Globes were Sunday... comedian Jo Koy hosted and... it was bad. He wasn't funny. I'm not saying his stand up wasn't funny... I'm not saying I think it's entirely on him... but last night's Golden Globes were really unfunny and... there's a lot of factors... so yeah.

In his defense... I think the crowd wasn't too pleased to be there in the first place. There's a lot of criticism over The Golden Globes to begin with... so it's not anyone's real favorite ceremony. Even if he killed it- people would still have the same reactions.

Taylor Swift's reaction is also one people have been talking about... I think Taylor Swift is used to criticism- she didn't like when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler joked about her at The Golden Globes- so... this probably was a full circle moment for her getting picked on again. She also probably would have rather been with Travis- but she went to the Golden Globes because of her career... so yeah. I'd kind of hate to be doing my regular job and then someone just commenting on my relationship? It's weird.

And obviously the Barbie jokes really missed the mark. That was kind of the nail in the coffin where this guy was just done. Margot Robbie laughed along with it- but today (Monday) she released a statement that she was very offended by the jokes. And rightfully so- the Barbie movie meant a lot to women and these jokes take away from that.

Jo Koy also apparently just got the job... and they maybe should have gotten a woman to do this years ceremony. 2023 was the year for women and... it really kind of sucks that all these shows are getting hosted by men.

Overall... I don't know if Jo Koy has funny standup or not... I don't think this was just people being offended by jokes... I think it's going to take a while for him to recover and get his career back on track.

That's all my thoughts... I feel like I'm not being that harsh on Jo Koy- idk if I should be harsher... but this is just kind of the reality of the situation.
