25 Days of 2025 Movies: We Bury the Dead

This is the first post of 2026… and it’s an interesting one. This I saw as a Scream Unseen and I thought it was going to be Anaconda… but I didn’t realize Anaconda was PG-13 and this movie said it was rated R… so the only movies it could realistically be otherwise were Primate- which is showing a little bit later and there is another Scream Unseen before then AND an indie movie I want to watch called The Plague but I don’t think that will be playing at my theater- so I was sure it wasn’t that. Either way- I was still excited for this one. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Daisy Ridley in anything and I haven’t seen a Zombie movie in a while either so that was exciting!

This movie has some mysterious event in Australia that killed pretty much everyone in the country- and some of the dead come back to life and they aren’t usually dangerous but as they get older they get more agitated. So our characters in this movie are retreating the bodies and making sure they get buried.

This movie keeps pairing our main character with different people. For most of the movie she’s with a handsome Australian man with long curly hair and he’s super charismatic. He’s the heart of this movie and the most entertaining part of it honestly. They do end up getting separated and she ends up with someone else who… has some problems and then she continues to try finding her husband. And you would think the movie would end when she finds him… but that’s not really how and when the movie ends.

I would say this was a strange movie that was unintentionally funny and the actors all did a great job. I don’t think this is a movie anyone will be talking about in a few years or anything too special… but I was entertained the whole movie and I would recommend everyone checks it out.
